Mr Dheerasinhe is a graduate of the University of Colombo where he obtained B. Com. and B. Phil. (Econ) with first class honours. He has obtained M.A. (Econ) from the University of Leeds UK. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and holder of Honorary ACI Diploma. He is a eminent Economist with a distinguished career of over 45 years in the Banking Industry. Published widely and presented papers on many aspects of Economics including Debt Capital Markets and Financial Globalisation in Sri Lanka and overseas.
He was the Senior Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and was also the Chairman of the Monetary Policy Committee, Sovereign Ratings Committee and Secretary to the Monetary Board. He was also the Alternate Executive Director for Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Sri Lanka at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Mr. Dheerasinghe was a board member of Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC from 2011 and held the Bank's chairmanship from 2014 to 2021.
A veteran of the freight forwarding industry, with over two and a half decades of experience and counting to date, Roshan started founded CL Synergy (Pvt) Ltd in 2004 aiming to challenge and change the status quo of the Logistics industry prevailing at the time. Seventeen years later, the CL Synergy empire has grown under his leadership and guidance as Managing Director to a renowned name in the Sri Lankan Freight forwarding industry, encompassing seventeen companies across the freight, logistics and technology industries.
Roshan’s is an alumnus of Nalanda College in Colombo, and he holds a BSc (specializing in Marketing) from The University of Sri Jayawardenapura. He also holds professional qualifications in Marketing as well as Logistics, as a Fellow member of The Chartered Institute of Marketing UK (CIM-UK), as well as The Institute of Chartered Shipbroker’s UK (FICS-UK).
Along with many industry process improvements that he lobbied for as the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Logistics & Freight Forwarders Association ( SLFFA) during 2019 - 2021, Roshan was also instrumental in putting together a Coffee Table Book documenting 40 years of SLFFA and also initiated the National Logistics Awards (NLA), aimed at recognizing and celebrating the achievements of industry players, as well as showcasing the strength and unity of the industry as a whole.
Janaka Udamulla is the co-founder of CL Synergy (Pvt) Ltd, along with Roshan Silva. A veteran in the Finance and Money Markets industry with exposure since 1991, it was only natural for him to take on the role of Director Finance and Administration from the company’s inception. His career saw him commence employment at the Colombo Stock Exchange before moving into stockbroking with First Capital. He progressed through the ranks and was Managing Director of First Capital by 2002, with exposure in setting up Taprobane Holdings, a company engaged in debt restructuring and bond management.
Janaka’s expertise and aptitude to learn new industries meant that he is a natural fit for managing and overseeing the finance and administrative functions of CL Synergy, as well as its sub-companies. He prides himself as playing a supporting role to Roshan’s dynamic business development and expansion plans, providing sound and robust financial and administrative frameworks to support Roshan’s bold new ideas. He has been instrumental in the growth of CL Synergy and its subsidiaries, from a small start-up of less than ten employees to a group of companies with nearly 300 staff members in total.
Janaka believes in straightforward and simplistic integration, utilizing comprehensive and robust control and monitoring mechanisms and ensuring easy compatibility between companies and systems. He is not a fan of overly complex systems that can only be understood by a handful of people. He believes that humans design systems and thus systems should be designed to be easily understood and used by humans to achieve their end goals. Furthermore, he maintains strict compliance and a no-nonsense attitude to adherence with financial and regulatory statutory requirements
Achintha Hewanayake is a veteran banker with over 30 years of experience in multiple aspects of banking. He is acclaimed for his pragmatic thinking, people centric approach and innate ability to deliver customer focused solutions.
He is well versed in commercial banking including Service Delivery, Recoveries, Personal Financial Services, Credit, Bancassurance, International Trade, Treasury and Branch Banking.
He served as the Senior Vice President / Chief Operating Officer at DFCC Bank where he spent much of his career. He also had stints at Sampath Bank and Union Bank of Colombo within the early years of his professional life.
A St.Thomas College Bandarawela alumnus; Achintha holds a MSc in Information Technology from the University of Keele, United Kingdom and a BSc. Business Administration (Special) from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura. He is also an Associate Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA, CGMA) - Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK.
Shehani Kulatunga is one of the very first employees of CL Synergy (Pvt) Ltd, having joined the company since its inception in 2004. Having worked alongside Founder Roshan Silva at Care Logistics, she has since grown with CL Synergy, marking a total of 21 years, and counting in the industry. Currently, she holds the post of Director Business Development, having joined the company as an Executive.
In her words, she has seen the company grow from a tiny seed that was planted, into the magnificent and lush tree that it is today and held a myriad of posts at multiple levels during that journey. As is critical towards the success and sustainability of start-ups, employees are exposed to a myriad of areas and Shehani’s exposure has been no different. She has been actively involved across Operations, Customer Service, Finance and CSR for example. Her current responsibility as Director Business Development is to oversee the direct sales vertical. She is responsible for acquiring, managing, and fostering relationships with direct sales clients from within Sri Lanka, as well as the myriad of overseas markets that CL Synergy caters to.
Shehani is an individual who is ever eager to learn and grow, and continually exposes herself with the broader aspects of the company, including lending cross-functional assistance when required. She is intensely dedicated to her job and embraced the round-the-clock nature of the business that was particularly crucial during its initial years. She holds an International MBA from Birmingham University, as well as an MSc in Supply Chain Management from Asia University of Malaysia.
Udara Widanagamage is one of the oldest employees at CL Synergy Limited, having joined the company as a Trainee Sales Assistant in May 2005. His determination and drive to succeed has seen him climb the ladder, reaching his current position of Director Business Development in 2014. Barring a six-month stint in the tire industry prior to joining CL Synergy, his entire working career has been in the industry, with the company and he has seen it grow from a small start-up into the successful giant with 17 sub companies that it is today. He has been tasked with managing and overlooking the operations of several overseas warehouses that CL Synergy operates via tripartite agreements with agents. Warehouse locales include Singapore, Dubai and Belgium with further plans to open facilities in the USA as well.
Mr. Widanagamage holds an MBA from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and is Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Institute of Certified Management Accountants, Australia (CMA), qualified.
Mr. Anuradha Sooriyaarachchi has served as Director – Procurement & Business Development at CL Synergy (Private) Limited, a role which he is now extending in his new capacity at CL Synergy Limited. Mr. Sooriyaarachchi has also served as General Manager and Deputy General Manager at CL Synergy (Private) Limited. He has also functioned in roles such as Manager Sales (Sri Lanka/Maldives) at APL Lanka (Private) Limited and Senior Executive at Maersk Logistics Lanka (Private) Limited. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers. Anuradha’s contributions towards the development of the industry saw him being appointed as a member of the Logistics Advisory Committee to the Export Development Board (EDB) by the Minister of Trade, with effect from July 2021.
Nirosh has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business Administration from Franklin & Marshall College USA, and is a CFA Charter holder. Nirosh is the Managing Partner of Horizon Partners Ltd, an advisory firm that specializes in corporate finance and change management consultancy work in Sri Lanka. Prior to commencing his consultancy company Nirosh worked in banking and investment banking specializing in capital raising, syndicated infrastructure finance and merges & acquisitions.
Nirosh commenced his career in 1993, at Vanik Incorporation Ltd, one of Sri Lanka’s first Investment Banks. He joined Hatton National Bank in 1997 and set up investment banking unit that undertook loan syndications, IPOs and M&A related services under the bank. In 2000 Nirosh joined Ayojana, a JV between the National Development Bank and the Commonwealth Development Corporation of UK where he was extensively trained in the area of Private Equity and where he engaged in managing and evaluating investments. Apart from his work Nirosh is an active member of the community volunteering time to government and charitable causes.
Sanjaya is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy & Financial Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Colombo.
Sanjaya is the president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. He is also a Board Member of the Confederation of Asian Pacific Accountants (CAPA), South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) and Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board (SLAASMB). Further He is a member of the governing council of the University of Kelaniya (UOK) and the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka. Sanjaya is a commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and a member of the financial system stability consultative committee of Central Bank of Sri Lanka. Sanjaya also serves in the accounting standards committee and auditing standards committee of CA Sri Lanka.
Sanjaya is head of assurance of B.R De Silva & Co, Chartered Accountants (Member firm of Nexia International) and counts over 23 years of experience in practice. He is also a director of Prime land residencies PLC. He was also the Chairman of Mercantile Investments and Finance PLC.
